Question

Unable to move photos

Hello everyone,
Being new to using Lightroom Classic, I am having difficulty moving photos from my internal hard drive of my Macbook pro to an external hard drive.
When I choose the original directory on my internal disk and a destination directory on my external disk, all the photos to transfer remain grayed out, the counter indicates 0 photos to transfer.
If I do the reverse with my external disk as the source and the internal disk as the destination, everything works.
I checked the file permissions on Mac as well as full access for LRC.
Following Abode's recommendations I prefer to use LRC to move the directories but without success.
Thanks for your help.

Jacques

You don't move the photos via the Import dialog box. That was not the purpose of Importing, and you can't do it that way.

You can move the photos in your operating system, and then re-connect in LrC (instructions) so it knows that the photos are now on the external drive.

in the future, to find the best place to post your message, use the list here, https://community.adobe.com/

p.s. i don't think the adobe website, and forums in particular, are easy to navigate, so don't spend a lot of time searching that forum list. do your best and we'll move the post (like this one has already been moved) if it helps you get responses.
