Why is LR auto-generating "duplicate" B&W versions of color profiles on import?
Got some color profiles (from a well known, experienced developer), and when I installed them in LR Classic (12.3), B&W versions of each of the five profiles appeared in the Legacy group in the Profiles panel. This caused an issue because I didn't know that color profiles get put in a "Profiles" group by default, and it wasn't expanded so I didn't see the color versions initially. The Legacy group happened to be expanded however, and I saw the B&W versions, but incorrectly assumed that the developer had sent me B&W versions by mistake. When I told him what I was seeing, he was dumbfounded and said he'd never created a B&W version of any of his profiles, and didn't have any idea how they'd gotten there. After rooting around, I finally came upon the color profiles in the Profiles group, and then some Googling turned up this post (from 2018), answered by Johan Elzenga, which described the exact same experience I had:
The developer said he's never heard of this from any of his clients, which raises a couple questions:
1. Is this still a current feature, and if not, how could it have been "engaged" in my version of LR Classic (12.3).
2. If it is still a current feature, is there some way to disable it, e.g a "Don't Create Duplicate B&W Profiles upon Color Profile Import" checkbox somewhere?
This is on a PC running Windows 10.
