Can't upload photo into Lightroom

I am unable to upload a photo which Lightroom thinks is a duplicate.  (LR not LR Classic).  I had originally played with editing a screen dump copy of this photo in Lightroom, but just recently got access to the raw file.  I now want to do a better edit from the new raw cr file.  I have tried deleting the old version, and renaming the new file to try to fool Lightroom but still get the error message Some Files not Loaded...duplicate image.  I cannot find the path to turn off the controls against loading duplicate images in LR.   Your help will be appreciated
