I'm new to Lightroom on the iPad and just wanted to know if LR creates a new copy of the files or reference the existing file?

was given all the RAW Images from our wedding on a thumb drive

Heres what i have did to get them in Lightroom on my ipad running ios 13

Connected the thumb drive to my ipad and copied all the files to Files App

Selected all the files in the Files App and opened them in Lightroom via the Sharesheet

Now i dont know if the files in Lightroom are referencing the files in the Files app or they have actually been copied into the lightrrom app and stored elsewhere therefore im Safe to delete from the files app?

Thanks

It's a new copy. So once it's in LR Mobile, you can zap the file in the Files app or Photos.

LR's copy is initially stored on the iPad in LR's own space, and is then uploaded to Adobe's cloud so you could access it on other mobile devices or via a web browser. If you have a subscription, and use LR Classic, the file and your edits will automatically download to your computer.
