Edits lost between desktop and phone

It did it again! 

1) Import image to lightroom (4.1) on desktop.

2) Edit it.

3) Check sync is complete (cloud is gray) and close desktop.

4) Open on Android phone and there are no edits!

5) Back to desktop. No edits! Work is lost.

It doesn't happen every time but it does happen quite often. It is particularly annoying because it is the workflow to get an image in Instagram.

Anyone got any suggestions? There doesn't even appear to be a local copy of edits on my desktop or way to access history for the image.
