Help with cropping photos

I am having issues applying changes made using the crop tool in Adobe Photoshop Lightroom, version 4.0.

When I crop an image and return to edit, the crop will not be applied. However when I return to crop, it still shows the changes I've made.

I've seen many posts about a hidden toolbar that can be found by pressing "T." This is doing nothing for me. I have also seen people say you can apply changes by pressing "Enter," but that just returns me to the edit screen and the changes are not applied. I believe I had a "Done" button on the bottom right hand of my images before this issue, though that button is now gone.
