Migrate from Harddisk

Hi,

Since 2016 I have all my photos in the Lightroom cloud

For 2000-2015 I have several thousands of photos stored on my Harddisk in a folder structure:

Example:

P:\\pictures\2000\2000-02-23 Zoo

P:\\pictures\2000\2000-03-29 Shooting in Berlin

From my understanding I need to

1. create a folder "2000"

2. create an album "2000-02-23 Zoo"

3. import from the folder on the disk to the new album in LR

And repeat this for every folder,...

This is a lot of work I would like to avoid.

Is there now a faster way to do that?

You could speed things up a little by first importing these images in a new catalog in Lightroom Classic. There create collections of all your folders by dragging the folders in the collections panel. Then migrate this catalog to Lightroom CC. This will create albums for all the collections, so the only thing you’d still need to do is organise those albums.

True if the OP has a copy of Lr Classic installed. If not, then installing a copy of Lr Classic is an essential first step. I would also recommend that OP avoids enabling CC sync on Classic or configuring the collections to sync.

Correct. Do not sync the Lightroom Classic catalog, because you are going to migrate it.
