Switching from Lr Classic to Lr CC - RAW file storage

Hello all.

 I have been a Lr Classic user from before it was even called Classic. I store everything locally.

I just purchased an iPad Pro with 128Gb of storage. I am considering switching to the Lr CC subscription but am wondering. 

When I will be importing my RAW files into Lr CC (on my Mac or my iPad) can I have the RAW files upload to the cloud and only work with the smart previews on both my Mac and iPad? I am especially interested in knowing this for the iPad since I will have limited space.
