Question

Uploading old (historical) photos

Does anyone have ideas on how to organize old (historical) photos in Lightroom?  My problem is that Lightroom seems to organize everything by date.  When importing old photos which have no known date (or at best an approximate date), Lightroom uses the date they are created and uploaded.  However, this mixes my old photos with my current ones, something I'd like to avoid.  Any ideas appreciated.  Thanks for your help.

I am using Photoshop Version 3.3 (cloud version).

After you scan the photos, and before you import to Lightroom, you would need to change the metadata with a tool like ExifTool

(You have not stated your computer OS!)

https://exiftool.org/gui/

Google May find other Metadata editors, but ExifTool seems to be the favoured one in Adobe forums.

eg. Google search found this page- https://www.geckoandfly.com/7987/how-to-change-exif-data-date-and-camera-properties-with-free-editor/

Regards. My System: Windows-11, Lightroom-Classic 15.0, Photoshop 27.0, ACR 18.0, Lightroom 9.0, Lr-iOS 10.4.0, Bridge 16.0 .
