Question

Cannot select shape once converted to smart object

When I create a rectangle shape it's editable and I can select the 4 vector corners to adjust. However, once I convert to a smart object this option disappears and I am unable to select to adjust the vector points.

I'm sure this used to work before. Any ideas?

I've attached a rough video to show.

Thanks 🙂

Double-click the icon for the Smart Object to edit it, then close it when finished to return to the Photoshop document.

Thanks Jane.

I was hoping to change the shape of the rectangle without editing the Smart Object itself.

I know that I can open the Smart Object and edit it, but it's the shape before I double click that I want to change.

I'm sure I've done it before.

Hi gmanji,

You can use Edit > Transform (Cmd+T) and then scale, distort, etc., on the SO. Is that what you are remembering?
