Contextual Alts not Working with Open Type Fonts

I was just working with chat support because my contextual alternates are not working with an Open Type font called Prida20calt. We found another OT font that had contextual alts (theres not many) called FoglihtenNo07 that has the same issue.
If I open a file I created back in 2021 that uses that font, the contextual alts work as expected, if I do all caps, I get the swash on the first letter and thats it, but if I want I can change each letter individually. I can copy this layer from this file into a new file and it all works fine still.
If I create a brand NEW text layer and try it the contextual alt button does nothing, and if in all caps, I get all swashes on Prida and on the Foglhten I get all standard and no contextual. This happens in both all caps and lowercase.
In the screenshot attached, the green checks is how it's supposed to appear in both fonts and works when I click on the contextual alts button, the font changes from swash to not swash etc. But the red x one is what it does in a brand new text layer which is NOTHING.
Chat support had me install 22.2 and try and guess what it worked again as expected. We unistalled and reinstalled 25 and deleted my appdata to clear all preferences and still the contextual alts did not work correctly.
The chat agent suggested I post here so it can be fixed in the next update as there is clearly something wrong with the contextual alts in later versions. I started having this issue well over a year ago.
