Font (character size) will not remain as set, PS 24.7.0, Windows 10

I set the Character size to 12.0 in either the Character (side bar)  or in the bar  at top of window, enter my text ,  when I move to another task and come back the size has reverted another size.   I can not find how to save the font size so it remains as 12 until I change.

I do not know why this is occuring, never had this issue previously.

PS is updated regularly.

    This is happening to me as well. It started on 24.7 and continues into PS 2024. Did you ever resolve this?

    No, have also found that in the previous version I use 12dpi for print, newest update 48!

    Additonally, my library does not load reliably - encounters unknown error - I did not have this in PS 2021.

    As a "weak" user of PS, these issues are very frustrating.

    Try resetting the tools and/or preferences.
    To restore preferences quickly using a keyboard shortcut:

    Press and hold Alt+Control+Shift (Windows) or Option+Command+Shift (Mac OS) as you start Photoshop. You are prompted to delete the current settings. The new preferences files are created the next time you start Photoshop.
    Note: Using the keyboard shortcut, preference files for custom shortcuts, workspaces, and color settings will also be reset to default.
