Question

Instant freeze / crash when using pen tool with alt button for handle adjustments

Getting REALLY tired of stability issues with Adobe now.

Pen tool randomly decides to crash as soon as I activate line curve using alt to bring up the handles.

I've tried all the preferences settings, updated drivers, un / reinstall etc.

Though only thing I haven't yet tried it roll back to previous version, because I wanted to check if someone knew what might be causing this issue.

I literally press / hold alt and click and the whole program freezes. Never did this before.

I'm on PC windows 10, radeon rx 480 gpu, ryzen 5 1600 cpu

Hey, @PEDRO364270453vlm. Welcome to the Photoshop Community. For now, I'll move this post to a new post of its own. More info is required to help you figure this out. I've checked for crash reports but couldn't find any reports submitted by your account. Please submit the crash reports to us: https://adobe.ly/48ISSiy

Please share the system info from Photoshop Help > System info > Copy & paste into a text document > upload & attach here.

Are you using an alternate input device or just the classic mouse & keyboard combo?

Try these suggestions:

Go to the location of the preference folder below and rename it to backup.

  • Windows 10/11: Users/[user name]/AppData/Roaming/Adobe/Adobe Photoshop [version]/Adobe Photoshop [version] Settings
  • You can press Press the Windows key > Enter 'Run' > Enter %APPDATA%\Adobe
  • Rename the Adobe Photoshop folder by adding a .old at the end. (Adobe Photoshop 2024 > Rename > Adobe Photoshop 2024. old), You can restore these preferences later if needed.(https://adobe.ly/4860qM9)
  • Restart the computer.

These changes will give a fresh start to Photoshop as a fresh install. Let me know how it goes.

Thanks!
