Photography Plan $9.99

I purchased the Photography Plan which is suppose to have Lightroom, Lightroom Classic and Photoshop.  I like to edit photos, so i've always used Photoshop.  I have it on my desktop and wanted it also on my Laptop, so I signed up for the monthly access.  When I downloaded Photoshop, its counting down a 6 day trial.  So when the 6 day trial expires, i'm assuming my monthy subscription will kick in and it won't skip a beat?

Also I've never used Lightroom.  Can someone give me a brief rundown on what Lightroom is and how it works.  I don't want to download it if I don't need it and can do everything through Photoshop.  In Photoshop, I use the clone brush along with all the other editing brushes and Raw Camera Filters.

Thanks for the advice!

You know about Photoshop, so we can start there. Photoshop edits each photo in its own window, like a word processor, and edits individual pixels with brushes, layers, and masks. Adobe Camera Raw was added to Photoshop to convert camera raw files, and Adobe Bridge was added so that a large number of files could be handled and organized together, and then launched into Photoshop as needed for editing.

If over the years you have found yourself spending more and more time using Camera Raw and Bridge together to process large shoots of raw files as quickly as possible, then you might like Lightroom, because Lightroom is like Camera Raw plus Bridge but even more tightly integrated. Lightroom is for organizing large photo libraries, and editing individual raw files. Lightroom also has a raw editing module like Camea Raw, plus tools for applying the same edits to many photos at once, faster than Photoshop can. If you then need pixel-level editing, layers, masks, and other specialized filters, you can still send those images to Photoshop for those tasks.

The main difference between the two kinds of Lightroom is where you store your originals.

Lightroom Classic is more traditional because all your originals are stored on your own volumes, connected to your computer. I use Lightroom Classic together with Photoshop.

Lightroom (not Classic) follows the increasingly popular cloud-based way of working, because it stores all your originals on Adobe cloud servers. This means Lightroom (not Classic) requires a reliable and fast Internet connection for you to edit any of your photos. The advantage, and the appeal of this for many people, is that all your photos are always available for you to edit or download on your desktop, laptop, phone, or tablet as long as you have a good Internet connection.

Lightroom Classic is a digital darkroom for Win/Mac users.

Lightroom is online.
