Question

Photoshop Brush lag

Hello,

I'm experiencing super annoying brush lag in Photoshop when using brushes to paint with color. As long as I sketch, nothing seems awry, but as soon as I start color picking and painting with color, it happens that photoshop will only register my marks on the 3rd or 4th attempt. Sometimes it creates these super straight lines, as if I were holding shift, but in fact, I wasn't.

I'm on a Mac running Mojave, with photoshop version: 21.0.3

I have closed ALL other apps because I thought it might be a CPU thing. And I've followed all those articles that tell you to manage Photoshop's performance tab and put painting mode to basic, etc etc.

Rebooted and even rebooted my MSC or something. And all this has being going on (on and off) on a clean Mojave install on a 4 year old retina Imac with 32gb RAM.

This is my last hope.

If nothing comes out of this, I'm reverting my OS back to Sierra and back to Photoshop CS5. Because all these new CC features aren't worth this stupid annoying lagg.

Hope you can help.

Hi there,

We are sorry about the experience with Photoshop due to the brush lag. Please try the suggestion shared by Nicochi and let us know if it helps.

Would you mind confirming if you are using a drawing tablet with Photoshop? If yes, please go to the "System Preferences" of your Mac, then "Security and Privacy" and select the "Privacy" tab. Then select "Accessibility" from the list on the left and add Photoshop to the list. Also, if you using a Wacom tablet, add the Wacom drivers for the list as well and then restart the computer to check if that helps.

Please ensure that you have the latest drivers for your drawing tablet installed on the computer.

Regards,

Nikunj

Only thing I can think of is the ruler tool being visible making the brush lag. It's a known issue that still persists today.

Cmnd/Ctrl + R

Good luck!
