photoshop does not open pics from hard drive

I dont know what I am doing wrong? I have so much grief from photoshop 2023 and now 2024.  Have uninstalled all adobe apps and reistalled several times.  Lightroom classic works great, but the power house photoshop is a bit of a pain.  I can open pics from lightroom classic to photoshop and work in there, but can not open them in photoshop 23/24 at all unless they are on the cloud?  Is this really how they are suppose to work?  The new AI stuff in photoshop does not work at all either... there is no box that opens when I select something I want to remove via ai.  the older options are sub par and not practical.  Please help. getting beyond frustrated here... An no it is not my computer specs... have a nice gaming laptop that I bought just for editing... has a 3060 video cards, 12th gen I5 and 32 gigs ram.  as well as newer style SSD running at 3000 Mbs
