Question

Shrik-wrapping or colouring one image with another image.

Hi,

I have the following two images:

I'd like to "colour in" or shrink-wrap the gears with the circuit image.

I've tried a few things such as displacement but I haven't been able to get the desired effect.

Could someone suggest tools or the processes I need to search for that might achieve the desired effect, please?

Thank you in advance.

W.

I did the Displace with the Default settings, Multiply Blend Mode set to 75% opacity, then the Texturizer Filter

with Scale 100%, Relief 50 and Light Top.

Maybe try using Filter>Texture>Texturizer with thesame image you used in the Displace filter.

That looks good, although the best I can do is:

With these Texturise settings:

I'm not sure what's different.

Thank you.

After you applied the Displacement Map did you try different layer blending modes and adjusting the layer opacity?

Thanks @Jeff Arola, you've got it much better than I managed, but it's still not the image I have in my head.

I did, but I found "Normal" was the closest, which made me think there might be a better tool/filter/process than Displace.

If I was in 3D Studio Max or Blender, I'd make a material using the circuit image that would give better-defined shapes, but then there's a lot more work in 3DSMax/Blender and for the final image's use, it's not worth the effort.

Thanks again.
