Tab file Name

Ever since I started using Photshop I have used the Save As command to save the images if was working to one that had a suffix of jpg. When I did this the name would chanage in the tab  and it served as a verfication that what you did was actually what you wanted.  For whatever reason this is no longer happening.  If the file I am working on is labelled img_8003.cr @50% and I go to use the save as command and select jpg and type a name like Sunset the tab used to change to Sunset.jpg but that is longer happening. It stays with the original file name.  What must be done to overcome this?  Thank you

In Preferences > File Handling ensure that Enable Legacy Save As is checked/selected. Does this make a difference when you Save As?

Perhaps you are using Save As a Copy and not Save As?

Save As renames the open image.

Save As a Copy saves a copy to disk with a new name, leaving the original open image with its original name.

I have been using "Save As" and it does not rename the file in the tab. This issue exists wewhter I am using Legacy or not.  In addition, when everything was working with the name change etc each image I renamed after editing have a small icon on it when opened in Bridge indicating it ha dbeen modified.  This is no longer happening.

    Thanks

It depends on the format you use when you Save As.

If the open document has components that would be lost in a JPG format, for instance, then the Tab name is not changed.  If you Save As a .PSD with a new file name, then the Tab name is updated.

    It's always worked like AFAICR.
