Question

When adding a spot channel the inside of letters filling in

When I add a spot channel to my designs with text the insides of the letter (for example the inside of an "o") are filling in with the spot color when they were previously transparent (with the grid showing). How do I fix this?

Hi Denise,

Did you ever figure this out?

Could you please post screenshots with all the pertinent Panels (Toolbar, Layers, Channels, Paths, Options Bar, …) visible?

@Denise36784599oe4s – Screenshots or sample files to illustrate are always helpful.

Unlike vector software, Photoshop spot channels overprint by default, they don't produce "knock outs" into other spot channels or CMYK channels. You have to manually create the knock out and possibly trapping if not handled downstream yourself.

What did you put into the spot channel?

It’s a spot channel for dtf printing. My image and other letters are correct. Any letter with an inside shape like “o” “p” “b” etc are filling in. However they show transparent like the background. When i “select” it doesn’t include the insides of those letters
