Adaptive grid view not adapting

I've upgraded to PSE2018 very recently.  For the 1st few days,  I'm sure the grid view in the Organiser worked correctly but now it shows all photos the same size which means cropping the heads & feet from portrait photos. 

It is adaptive if I view most tags (but not all) or most folders (but not all) but when I return to all photos, those same photos that have been showing the correct shape are now shown all the same in a uniform grid.

The details view works correctly.

Can anyone help please?
