Question

Adobe Photoshop Elements 13

I have owned this program for about 3 years and decided to make a slideshow for the first time thinking that it would provide all the elements automatically instead of having me build it from scratch like in IMOVIE.  I have built it 8 times in both my Mac's but have the same problem in the new and older computer.

1.  The program inserts other photos form previous years into the sequence.

2.  Also it sticks on one photo that I did use and repeats it many times.

3.  It takes out photos that I did insert and substitutes other photos.

I am an amateur photographer and not a computer expert either.  I do not know what will solve this issue.

     1.  Should I reinstall the program?

     2.  Should i upgrade to the latest version?

     3.  Should I punt and buy another program?

I called for customer service and was told that they can help me for a $99.00 fee.  Maybe that is the best option but I do not know what way to go at this point.  Any help will be appreciated.

Debbie

Thanks Don. I printed the instructions and will remake the slide show again and see how it comes out.  I am hopeful and appreciate your response.

With PSE 13, Adobe completely reworked the Slide Show Editor that had been used in all previous versions. This initial revision was quite limited.  However, from memory, I do not ever recall it acting in the way you describe. Are you accessing the Slide Show Editor  from the Organizer? If not, how are you selecting the photos?

If you use the Organizer, you cannot drag/drop them into a desired order. You must first put them into an Album. From there you can order them the way you wish. Then when you select them and go into the Slide Show Editor, they will appear in that order.

You may find the video at this link somewhat helpful, even though it is for the PSE 2018 Slide Show Editor and not the one you are using.

Thank you for your reply.  I am a complete novice when it goes to many of these technology issues as computers were the size a  room when i was in college.  I use a computer all day long at work and took classes at the Apple store to learn how to use my MAC but some issues are not easy to grasp.  My son works at a TV station and he tried to help me to no avail. I am seeing a 91 year old nun who taught me in HS on March 23rd and promised to have this show ready for viewing so I have to make it work.

I made the slide show on two different computers.  On my MAC I highlighted the desired photos that were in an album and created the slide show.  Then I had to drag them to position them in the proper order using the edit function in the slide show.  When this show gave me the stated issues, I tried reducing the size of the photos that were taken in RAW to JPEG's thinking that the size was the issue.  This slide show was made on my year old Mac Book Pro so all the slides that I used were in one folder and the same thing happened.

I do not know if upgrading my Elements 13 to the latest version (2018) will fix my problem.  I would have to upgrade to 14, 15 and then 2018 which might not be possible.  Is it better to just buy the latest version (2018) without upgrading a program that obviously has bugs?

I honestly do not think that PSE 13 has bugs that are preventing you from completing your slide show.

This link is to a chapter from my PSE 14 Organizer eBook. What you see when you make a slide show in PSE 13 should be very similar. Hopefully this will help. Even though my eBook is for a PC, I believe PSE 13/PSE 14 are identical for a Mac in this regard.

I hope this helps somewhat.
