Can not bring the pictures on to the screen in Elements 2018

Question

First, when tried to bring multiple fotos at the same time on the screen I got the announcement "could not complete your request because of a problem parsing the JPEG data",

then after that I could not even bring one single foto on the screen, but got a piece information of "could not import the clipboard because an unexpected end-of-file was

encountered". So my newly purchaced Elements 2018 is practically totaly useless purchace.

<Tell me please what can I do to get my costly purchase back in use!

The forum is full of complaints about the same problem created by the new Windows 10 (1803) update.

There is a workaround detailed by ssprengel in that discussion: editing the registry.
