Downloadinf photos

When I try to download photos fron my sandisc it will only show me a grey area with a hourglass on. Never had this problem before. The photos do downlod to file explorer. Help

Hi Me again.  If I click on the'grey' file ir will show the photo fully open but will return to grey when returning to thefile.
