elements 2018 on Mac Mohave guided mode effects screen missing

the quick and expert mode work but guided mode screen effects window missing

reset preferences ; deleted preferences -- nothing is working

    Hello Ramona,

    Please navigate to "/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Photoshop Elements/16.0" and delete the ThumbDatabase.db3 file.

    Then navigate to "/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Photoshop Elements/16.0/Locale/en_US/" and delete the MediaDatabase.db3 file

    (I'm assuming you're using the English version. If you're using some other version, please select the appropriate language sub-folder within the Locale folder)

    Now relaunch the application.
