Elements 7 and profile problems

Elements 7 has been working happily on my PC for years. Most recently on Windows 10.

Suddenly for no apparent reason I am getting a monitor profile error

and whichever option I choose Elements then proceeds not to open properly

I've tried reinstalling elements but with the same results.

What is monitor calibration software?

Any help appreciated.

If I use other photo software e.g. Windows photo gallery there are no issues

Thanks

Here is a web page about calibration software:

How To Calibrate Your Monitor | B&H Explora https://www.bhphotovideo.com/explora/photography/tips-and-solutions/how-calibrate-your-monitor?BI=572&kw=&c3api=0980%2C106232511053&gclid=CM_0u5vj9tMCFc5bfgodcZIDtw

In view of your prior unfamiliarity with these products, I doubt that your monitor is calibrated.

I suggest that you reset global preferences in PSE to default, as that may fix it. To do that:

    Windows

Step 1. Hold down the Alt + Ctrl + Shift keys as you click on the icon to open Elements. When asked if you want to delete the settings file, say yes.

Step 2. Reset the preferences as above.

Step 3. Close Elements and let the file regenerate.

    Macintosh

Step 1. Hold down the Opt + Cmd + Shift keys as you click on the icon to open Elements. When asked if you want to delete the settings file, say yes.

Step 2. Reset the preferences as above.

Step 3. Close Elements and let the file regenerate.
