Elements 8 Backup Catalog has been running for over a week!

Photoshop 8 on an old x86_64 cpu and WinXP  has been running PE 8's backup catalog function for over a week now!

I understand its an old machine, but not sure why its taking over a week running 24 hours a day. Everything else still runs well on this xp box.

This was the only app running on the box. I know it has enough memory and more than enough space on the target hard drive for my collection of pictures.

I want to migrate all pics to PSE 13 on a Win10 machine, and therefore do a full backup first.

I wanted to do a full backup, after having fixed all missing links to pics, to another internal drive before retiring this machine.

However, this backup function has been running for more than a week now! Nothing in the target drive/directory.

1) How can i find out the progress of this backup ?? Is there a log file where i can check the progress of this backup?

I want to know if i have to abort this process or not.

2) Will copying all the pictures via explorer and the catalog database suffice ?? I want to make sure i retain the keyword/tag info per picture, as I have everything organized.
