I wish to upgrade to Adobe Photoshop Elements 2020 by DVD & install. I am wondering what happens to all the photos I have in my present elements 12 organizer? Can I delete the Older Elements Editor but keep the older Organizer & move photos as needed to work on in my new 2020 version? Can I keep both the old & new versions in my computer & just have the new one sit in my dock for easy access & use?

    Hi,

You can keep both the versions installed on your machine. Your PSE 12 catalog and the imported images will remain unaffected by the installation of the new version. When PSE 2020 will be installed, it will create a copy of your PSE 12 catalog and the copy would be upgraded to work with the latest version. The upgraded copy will have all the imported images from the previous version. The original PSE 12 catalog will continue to exist on your system and will be available if you launch PSE 12.

Partial uninstallation of Editor/Editor is not possible, if you uninstall the product it will remove both Organizer and Editor from the machine.

Please let us know if you have more queries.

    Thanks!

Both versions can remain installed on the same computer.  They are entirely separate programs, even if you purchase through an upgrade discount.  However, if you have installed Catalina on your Mac, Elements 12 will not work on the new OS.

When you install 2020 and open its Organizer, it will search for the last used catalog in your Elements 12 Organizer, and will convert it for use in 2020.  (The Elements 12 catalog cannot be used to open a file in the 2020 Editor.)
