How can I load lots of photos efficiently using the Photoloader in to MAC PS12

Hi I have about 1000 photos to load into the Organizer on a MAC. Using the Import  load from card I can easily load into my defined folders and also into an album. But I make a selection of some of the photos to load, and after loading, the window closes . So I have to start again for the next selection. With 1000 photos this takes some time before all the thumbnails are visible. I can find no way to keep the Window open to do another selection, as the Microsoft loader does. Using iPhotos doesn't seem to allow you to define a folder structure , which  I want to do If I use Finder, it doesn't give all the benefits of Photo-loader and it doesn't break up the AVCHD stream from my camera into the separate video clips. So Photo loader is my preferred option, nearly! I have checked all preferences , option etc and cannot find a way to do what I want Chris

    Could you give more details about what you are expecting from your workflow:

    - Is it to 'cull' most of your photos or just a small part?

    - Do you mostly download from card reader?

    - Do you want to keep a copy of ALL your files before keeping selected ones in your catalog?

    - Are you frequently importing big batches like this?

    The workflow dilemma with the Organizer or any other catalog based asset management software is choosing:

    - using all the features of the organizer for selection and culling after a global import, then deleting rejected file (from catalog and/or from disk/card)

    - or possibly using another 'culling' software before importing.

    Speed of operation is important, safety for your images and your cards is crucial as well. You may get several opinions or good ideas by explaining what you are expecting.

    Michel Thanks for your reply. What I am trying to do is populate a folder structure with the pictures from a card. Its usually a holiday where I want to break down the photos on the card into folders for each place we visited. The cards often have this many on. ( I am aware I can tag the photos to view separately and I do this later, but currently we still prefer to have a folder structure  as a base) So I want to select all the photos for place A in the Photo loader window and put in its folder for place A. Then select the next group and place in another folder and so on, so eventually the contents of the card have been saved into a folder structure for the holiday.One holiday into many places as we toured. But after populating each folder, the photo loader window closes, so I have to start again.Which works but is time consuming. I then cull when the photos are all in the Organizer, and I am able to cull and do quick fixes at the same time.Culling is not really an issue. Hope this explains better. Chris

    I did not expect such a folder organization based on locations ...

    Let me think about it some time. Maybe others may add suggestions?

    The problem is to start from a flat folder and to end with a folder system based on locations on your computer - while indexing and tagging all the information in the catalog. Culling is secondary.

    I am tempted to suggest to work differently, with a first stage of importing in a temporary folder, tagging and culling, and only then moving each location tags to a the definitive location folder.
