How do I make a grid patter background on CC 2017?

I am trying to make a template for a journal but need either dots or light grid lines as the background of the template to be printed.  I can not figure it out on cc 2017, any help?

You can try some built-in patterns.

Layer>New Fill Layer>Pattern and then load the Web Patterns and see if one of those will work.
