ND Grad Filters
I use the free download of NIK Collection which includes ColorEfex Pro4. Is this method of applying ND Grads better than attaching filters to the camera lens? I have visited a few forums on the subject and some contributors preferred using Photoshop. I noted that three brands of filters were popular: Kood, Cokin and Lee. As the Lee filters are quite expensive would Kood be just as good as Cokin?
I use Photoshop Elements 10 but will upgrade to 15 in the near future. There is no ND Grad Filter feature in 10 but is it included in 15? Also, is there a version 16 release on the horizon?
I read on the forums that lens filters are not ideal if the division between sky and horizon are complex. When this is the case in Photoshop I usually select just the sky and adjust seperately.
I also have a question about monitors: browsing PC magazines some reviews point out that a particular monitor doesn't support Adobe RGB. I have narrowed my choices down to an ASUS VC239H and a Dell UltraSharp U2414H. Are there better choices in that price range? I will be sending files to colour labs for printing and would like opinions on colour reproduction accuracy of monitors or is everything trial and error? Is there a colour information file inside Photoshop that is used by the colour lab?
