Organizer does not reconnect offline drive any longer

Let me first describe my setup, which worked like a charm for a long time (PSE13 on OSX).

To save space on the laptops harddisk, my original "RAW" pictures and movies are stored on a NAS.

The edited pictures are stored on the laptop in a Cloud folder, which syncs/distributes the edited pics over multiple mobile devices.

PSE Organizer keeps both original RAW and edited JPG, PNG etc as a special version set together.

The movies are only on the NAS.

While on route, "RAW" and "MOV" are temporarily stored in the local Cloud folder as well (ensuring to have a backup immediately).

After being home, the Cloud folders are moved using PSE Organizer to the NAS, releasing space on laptop and cloud storage.

This all worked without issues before.

              !!!! ISSUE !!!!

Suddenly, PSE Organizer is no longer able to reconnect the NAS. No changes made on the network, no replacement of the NAS or anything.

When selecting one Offline RAW file and open PSE Photo Editor, the popup appears to reconnect.(see included screenprint)

Strangely, the reconnect drive option is grayed out (while being connected), but the reconnect picture allows me to reconnect the individual picture.

A new entry in the folder structure appears for the NAS, with only the folder structure for this individually reconnected RAW file AND - importantly - the version set remains in tact. In the offline branch, the offline version is removed, preventing duplicate entries. Perfect solution for one image.

Not a feasible solution to reconnect thousands of media files with version sets.

Their has to be an easier method.

Can anyone help?

Understanding why the reconnect suddenly fails, although the setup wasn't changed, may also help resolve or at least prevent future issues.

PS: I already applied the suggestions in the troubleshoot catalogs help like shutting down Tunes, stop analysis etc. as well as catalog repair and optimise options with rebuilt of indexes without any visible change.

PS2: I am aware that I can just re-import all the files. However, that will not restore the relationship between original RAW file and edited JPG, PNG files in one version set. Hence, this is not a feasible option as the only way to restore would be to redo the editing and replace the already edited klone for thousands of pictures.

Looking forward to suggestions.

KR,

Gerard

    Unfortunately no responses yet.

Fortunately, in the meantime, I was able to resolve the issue.

For those of you facing the same of a similar issue, here are the RootCause and the remedy.

On OSX, two methods are available to connect a networkdrive or server. Via "smb:" and via "afp:".

Once connected, you won't see any difference anymore.
Apparently, PSE is more sensitive and DOES see the difference.

Root Cause: After returning home, I reconnected using 'the other' method.

Remedy: Disconnect and switch to 'the other method'.

How to identify: In the "Find Offline Drives" pop-up, give a bit more room to show the required networkpath. In case of an "afp:" connection, you will see the letter 'afp'. Even before, you can see it in the folder structure, where the offline drive name contains '_afpovertcp' (afp over TCP). You can see it in the screenprint I added with my question.

Problem solved. Once connected, the drive name will be reduced to the identifying name you choose. In my case 'ourHome' and all identifiers to the method are gone. But by then it works and you don't care anymore.
