PE 12 only partly opens

I have Photoshop Elements 12 and Premier Elements on a disc. Both were installed 4 years ago and have valid registrations. Both worked until this month. If I open a picture with Photo Elements 12 the screen opens WITH  A GREY BOX at he top where the Three Different Levels boxes used to be. A message then comes up to say that Photoshop Elements has stopped working. Can I UNINSTALL and reinstall from the disc?

Try re-installing from the direct download links. Premiere Elements is at the bottom of the page. After installation, validate with the serial numbers from your disk packaging inside the box or from your Adobe account if you originally registered the products.

Thanks for your help. I re installed from the discs after I had found my serial numbers
