Printer cannot be opened.

Don't know if anyone can help with this,

I have just bought a new printer (Canon Pixma MX925) after my last one died ! The printer is all set up and connects to my router fine. I have managed to print from the usual software suites mainly office. My problems start when I try to print a photograph in Elements 14. I sometimes get a message when I load a photograph which says the following -

"The saved printer information is not compatible with this version of Photoshop Elements or the saved printer is no longer available. Check printer settings before printing."

This message doesn't always appear but when I request a print I get the usual pre-print screens to set all the parameters. The new printer appears in the printer drop down box so I select that and choose print. I then get another error message which has a white cross in a red circle with PRINT.......the following message is also shown " Because the default printer could not be opened"

Would be grateful for any help or ideas,

    Have you downloaded the latest driver for the printer? Even though it is new, there may be a more recent driver.

    Windows or Mac?

    Are you having the problem printing via Editor and/or Organizer?

    Have you tried printing with the printer plugged into USB port directly?

    Hatstead thank you for your quick response........much appreciated !!

    I have a Windows machine running Widows 10 (should have put this in the 1st place !! Doh !!). However your question as to whether I was having a problem in Organiser and Editor proved to be a stroke of genius !! Got up this morning and tried printing from Organiser and hey presto it worked !! Still unable to print from Editor but compared to not being able to print at all it's a minor sacrifice. Thank you so much for taking the time to offer your assistance.

    I will note this as answering my question but if anyone out there reading this has any idea as to why I can't print from the Editor please get in touch.

    This issue has come up in prior posts. It is said that the print engines in organizer & editor are not identical. You can extrapolate from this!
