PSE 2019 corrupting files when saving

Several times today when trying to save PSD files, Elements has crashed and I've had to turn my computer off and back on again.  When I open the file I had been trying to save it's completely corrupted. I only recently downloaded PSE 2019 recently and it had been working fine until today.  Any idea what's happening and how I can fix it? It's impossible to work on files when this keeps happening.
