PSE 7 serial # not "valid"

Hi, all. I've contacted support twice about this and they can't seem to help. I have an old copy of PSE 7 that I'm reinstalling on a new computer. The serial # is on the DVD case I'm holding in my hand, and it is registered under my Adobe account. Yet when I put it in to activate PSE7, it tells me the serial # is invalid. Considering it's still offered as a download from Adobe, and the # is registered to my account, this isn't making much sense to me. Any ideas?
