restoring catolog, photoshop elements 14

running win 10, elements 14

lost my exturnal drive(f) which cat was stored on.

software did reconnect some photos, maybe half

do have another exturnal drive(k) , which i did a cat back up to,( also did a direct copty of  files on the bad ex drive.

but  when i try and do a restore cat   it says nothing is their ( in the cat backup file) 

when i run reconnect missing files it does not find them on the backup drive. (k)

if i click on a missing file -pic- it will search and find it and reconnect all photos in that file

so do i do that way is like 100 files. 

or would you  uninstall  and reinstall software and let it find and rebuild cat ?
