Is there any way  to save  a picture that shows up as a thumbnail but for which I cannot find the original file? I have searched the entire drive but cannot locate the original.

The thumbnail you can see is stored as a very small image (160 x 120 and 320 x 240 pixels) binary files in the thumbnail database.

That's much too small to be useful. The binary format is not an image format, so there is no way to recover them. The only way would be to save screenshots...

    Hi Victor,

Thanks for reaching out to us.

Thumbnails for missing files would show up as "?" until you connect them to their original file.
