I have Adobe Photoshop Elements 14 and wish to upgrade to edit and view Raw photos.  Can I do this without paying exorbitant monthly fees?

I have Adobe Photoshop Elements 14 and wish to upgrade to edit and view Raw photos.

    Which camera make and model?

Supported cameras: Cameras supported by Camera Raw

Compatible Adobe software: Camera Raw plug-in and Adobe application compatibility

The D7500 was first supported by Camera Raw 9.12 which is only compatible with Elements 2018 or newer.

So you'll either have to upgrade to Elements 2019 (one off payment. No subscription required) or, stay with Elements 14 and use the free DNG converter.

PSE 14 can edit and view raw photos.

FAQ: Will Photoshop Elements work with my camera, or Why won't my raw files open?

However, each new camera comes with its own new raw format that older editing softwares (including PSE) can't read or edit.

If you have a camera more recent than PSE14, you can't open those file raw formats directly with the ACR plugin. In that case, Adobe provides the DNGconverter software mentioned in that article.

It's free and can convert newer formats to the DNG raw format that PSE14 can read and edit.

By the way, PSE is not a subscription license, it's perpetual.

    Hello Michel

Apologies for the tardy reply – I have been unwell. I have tried unsuccessfully to find the DNG converter but with the help of Adobe I will persevere and hopefully succeed!

    Many thanks for your advice
