Why can't one overlay images in PE2018 as in PE7
I have used Elements 7 for many years. I recently bought PE2018 expecting an upgrade. There are new features, but I can't get three features which are defaults on PE7 to work on PE2018. These are related problems.
With PE7, when I load an image, the frame around the image is only slightly larger than the image; no wasted space on the screen. Or I can shift to fullscreen mode in which case the frame fills all available space around the image -- on what might call the desktop of Elements. I can toggle back between tight frame vs. max frame. But when I load an image into PE2018, it defaults to max frame and there is no dialogue button to tighten the frame around the image.
With PE7, having a tight frame leaves space on the desktop so that I can move position of the image around here and there over the desk top. Then, if I load a second image, I can see both images and move their positions relative to one another -- which facilitates comparing two images, or transferring a portion of one image to the other image. Very handy. With PE 2018, the only way I can see two images on the desktop together is by tiling them. This is very clunky and hard to work with. In some cases I need the two images side by side; in other cases I need them one above the other. Or I need them partly overlapping. That was easy with PE7, but seems impossible with PE2018.
If I have only two images loaded into PE2018, tiling puts them side by side, which is OK for some uses. But if I have 6 images loaded into PE2018, tiling tiles all 6 of them, allowing me to see only a little of each of the two images I want to work with. In PE7, I could pick which two or more images were on the desktop together and change relative positions of all of them. is there any way to revert PE2018 to the PE7 type default in this regard?
With PE7, I could grasp any image with my cursor and drag a copy of it into the frame of a second image. Then I could grasp the imported image by any of its corners and pull to enlarge its relative size or push to shrink its size relative to the other image. That way I could get their relative sizes exactly as I want it, in preparation for fusing the two images, or for cloning part of one image onto the other image. With PE2018 I cannot change the relative size of the imported image. So I cannot fuse portions of images in the ways that has been known internationally as "photoshopping" -- which is the main feature for which I use Photoshop.
When I checked out the online ad for PE2018,before buying this upgrade, the ad showed a photo of a child (as I recall), and simulated removing all background around the child in a single click of the mouse, despite complexity of that background. Same demo was shown when I installed the software. But I have not been able to find that demo again on my computer, much less find instructions on how to remove the background so exactly and easily. The biggest challenge in background removal that I've found is with hair or leaves or grass, where there are lost of small objects with only a little space between them. Photoshop or Lightroom CC has a great demo on how this was done with the hair of a woman. But I've found no tutorial (or manual) for doing this with PE2018.
Please help. thanks
