Question

Audio Won't Sync | "Match cannot be found". I've tried everything

Hey all,

I have a video I'm editing of me gaming on my PC. I've recorded the stream of the game through OBS. In OBS, I recorded two separate audio tracks: one for game audio, and the other just microphone audio.

I use a GoPro to record facecam which includes scratch audio. The mic audio and camera audio are practically identical in waveform. Track 1 is gameplay audio, tracks 2 and 3 are mic and camera.

Here's what I've tried so far:

  • I've selected each row I'm syncing
  • In the synchronize prompt, I've selected both "mixdown" and all possible other channels. None worked.
  • I've made new sequences and project files. No dice.
  • I've deleted the gameplay audio track, leaving only the mic and camera audio, as well as unlinked them from respective video. No sync.

I've checked that the framerates are identical. Gopro is 59.9401 while gameplay is 59.9402. I've tried interpreting the footage to match on both ends; nothing. This couldn't be the issue though; I've edited many similar videos with gameplay + camera on the same specs, no issue.

This began when I started recording separate gameplay audio and mic audio tracks. Before, in OBS I recorded it all on one track. It synced fine then. Given that I've tried the various options in the sync prompt I'm not sure why this would cause an issue.

It can't be audio drift, either. The gameplay clips are very short, since I start and stop recording regularly.

Please help. There are dozens of clips and manually syncing would be agony. I make these videos regularly as well.
