Can not import videos clips into Premiere Pro and no video preview thumbnails in the import section

I recently purchased a new Apple MacBook Pro equipped with the M2 Max chip and 32GB of RAM. However, I am experiencing performance issues as this computer is running less efficiently than my previous MacBook Air. Specifically, I am encountering difficulties while importing videos into my project. The previews of the videos are not displaying in the import section, and the system overall is functioning very slowly, with frequent lagging and crashing.

I sought assistance from Adobe support, and the representative made adjustments to my settings, configuring Premiere Pro to run off Rosetta. This amendment appeared effective during the support call, as we managed to upload four videos to the timeline and deemed the issue resolved at that moment. Additionally, the representative advised importing videos via the "Import Media to Start" option located in the Edit section.

It doesnt seem to make a difference if i import the files from my SSD card or driectly from my computer. 

The files are MP4 all shot at 50 fps from a Sony FX30 camera. 

What am i doing wrong and how can i fix this as at this time i am unable to use Premiere Pro.
