Question

Choose metadata to include in Avid Log Exchange (ALE) export

Hi,

My end goal is to have a spreadsheet of specific metadata for my clips and subclips.  I can export and Avid Log Exchange, which provides a tab-delimited file of some (but not all) of the metadata I would like.  Most importantly, it does not include Subclip Start and Subclip End.

Is there a way to customize which metadata (fields, columns) are exported in an ALE?

Thanks.

Improving on ALE workflows is on the backlog. I can point you to what's currently supported, but there aren't any options to customize the columns today.

Go here: https://helpx.adobe.com/premiere-pro/using/long-form-episodic-best-practices.html

And look for the chart on page 32 of the Best Practices guide to see what's available today.

And please post a feature request about improving ALE for the future! I'm a big proponent of using ALE for human-readable metadata, as it's an established format for stuff like this, and I see folks using it for all sorts of custom metadata - camera lens info, depth information, etc.

Thanks for responding Karl!

Search Karl Soule's YouTube channel for that, I think he does cover it in one I've seen. @Karl Soule'  might be around sometime ...
