Deleting filler words or pauses in German deletes entire sentences instead of single words or pauses

Text based editing. I saw all the youtube videos about text based editing. In english it seems to work, but in German there are some problems. Deleting filler words or pauses in German deletes entire sentences instead of single words or pauses. If I am searching manually for specific word to delet, the system does the same. It deletes entire sentences.

Hi Kerstin, it was a mistake on my side and more a UX flaw...  when I deleted a filler word the view shifts in the text for no good reason, the text seperates into two parts and at first glance it just looked as if the seperated second part was missing. In general it works.

Hi Jens,

thanks for checking again and sharing your thoughts, I'm glad to hear it's not a bug 🙂

For a better understanding what's happening: when you delete a filler words or a pause, actual cuts are made on the clip(s) in the timeline to delete the chunk that contains the filler or pause. That's why we also make a cut in the text segment of the transcript and split it up.

Best,

Kerstin

Hi Jens,

thanks for reporting this problem! I don't see this issue on my end using German transcripts so here are a few questions for you:

1. Which version of Premiere Pro and which hardware are you using?

2. What are your exact steps? Do you filter for fillers or pauses, then click on "Delete" and select "Extract"/"Lift"?

3. Could you share a before/after screenshot so I can see what exactly is happening?

Thank you!

Kerstin

@Jens36437640jnb0,

I don't think I can test this. But I'll bet @Kerstin Ebert can!
