Has "copy paste" changed recently? How to keep selection from another sequence

Hello, I have been using PPro for a very very long time and I *think* something has changed with copy/paste because it is driving me crazy.

Say I want to copy and paste a clip from one part of the timeline to the other. I select that clip, hit command +C, and the move my playhead or set my inpoint to where I want to paste that clip. At that new location, there is a different clip that I don't want anymore, so I select that one and delete it. But now, when I hit command + V to paste the first clip, Premiere 'helpfully' re-pastes the clip I just deleted, instead of the one that I copied.

I understand that PPro is pasting whatever the last thing I selected was. But I don't want it to do that. I just want it to paste the last thing I COPIED. Unless I've gone mad, I feel like this is a new feature because I have been making these actions for years and have never had do a work around like I am now. If anyone has any suggestions on how to solve this, I would greatly appreciate it! Thanks!

Hello julie etc.

This sounds annoying (upvoted to get an informed answer).

One question: when you say "I select and delete a clip" what command / shortcut are you using to delete it?

Had an unwanted auto update happen and now I get the same thing. It's not where the clip pastes to, but the actual clip itself. I highlight the clip, copy it, go to the selected place on the timeline, and paste - but it's not the clip I just copied. It's annoying as hell.

Sorry about your experience. I cannot replicate the issue myself in PPro.

Therefore, I moved this discussion to Bugs.

this isn't it. It's the clip itself, not the location of it.
