Help needed with glitch in Premiere Pro 23.5 (as well as other versions)

Hello everyone!
I've got some footage on my Sony FX30 that has been recorded in XAVC S-I 4K, 10bit, 4:2:2, at 30fps, shot in Slog3 that I want to edit in Premiere Pro, the latest version (23.5), on a MacBook M1 Max.
After I add my mp4 files to the project timeline this is what I see whenever the video is paused. If I start playback it plays just fine but whenever it's paused it looks like this. Also, if I render it, this is what the video looks like, it's just a mess.
Things I've tried:
- deleting cache
- restarting Premiere
- restarting my Mac
- adding the footage to a different project
- converting the footage to ProRes HQ or ProRes LT using Adobe Media Encoder (which rendered the same jumbled mess)
- installing previous versions of Premiere (v22 and v21) and using those
Nothing works for Premiere Pro. I did open up the footage in DaVinci Resolve and there are no issues there. It plays/pauses/renders just fine there.
Also, Catalyst Browse can play, pause, convert them without any issues to X AVC S and I can work with those files in Premiere, but I lose a lot as they are three times smaller.
What baffles me is that this problem has appeared suddenly and I haven't had it happen before. Same type of footage, camera etc. no issues before.
Does anyone have any idea what's happening and how I can fix it? Thank you!
