How to export subtitles > translate > and re-import

Hi guys!

I would like to use AI to translate an interview from Spanish to English.

This is my work flow:

1. Transcribe the interview in Spanish

2. Create Captions

3. Export Captions as .srt

4. Open .srt file with TextEdit (Mac)

5. Copy text into DeepL and translate text.

6. Create new TextEdit file and copy translated text (all formatting is kept identical)

7. Save file as .srt

8. Import .srt file into Premiere

My problem: when I import the .srt file into Premiere it shows an error message:

The importer reported a generic error.

Any idea how to fix this?

Creating a work flow that works would be so helpful in shooting documentaries around the world!

Thanks

Exactly my workflow for Russian at the time.

But: if you use DeepL for free its adds a line "translated by DeepL" or so. If you don't erase it the srt-file won't work. Might that be the reason?

So it works for you? I checked now, and no, the last sentence from DeepL is removed.

Lukas, can you open the file in a text editor and post the beginning through the second caption?
