Importing Media Causes Project to become Faulty

This has only become an issue recently and I am not sure why.  Whenever I import a new piece of media to a current project the whole project becomes faulty.  I can see that the program acts like its fine, but you cant see anything you have done until you click the File icon at the top.  This is a super weird issue so I included a video with the description.  I have tried updating drivers, uninstalling and reinstalling and nothing seems to be working.  I'm not sure what else to do but it has become extremely frustrating.  The video shows what I mean but "acts fine but you can't see what you are doing".
