Is PP 24 (build 58) even functional?

First, there are some threads here on things some Mac users need to set in the OS so that Pr 2024 works correctlly. If those are set right, many users are then blasting away. @Kevin-Monahan has some posts about this on this forum.

Next, the import page has been there since the 23.x series ... and for most users, just type a Name, select location, and the first time, make sure nothing in the 'media' middle section has a star filled in, and no option on the right is blue ... then click the Create button.

And a bit of advice ... when starting a new project, just type Name, select Location, click Create. Actually same process as the old dialog box, just a different look, different other options most users never use. I just wish we could tab to the Create button. Ah well.

As to the rest ... best upgrading process is to intall the new major version, making sure the 'remove prior versions' option IS NO CHECKED! This leaves all your previous builds available. I've got back through 2015 available between my main (current) and backup (previous main) systems.

After installing the new version, on launch hold down Shift ... and use the dump cache option to make sure no cache files are brought forward.

Now ... create a new project! In the new project, go to the MediaBrowser panel, navigate to the old project, right-click IMPORT the assets into the new project. This gives a clean project in the new version, and leaves the old version completely as-was and usable!

Test your workflow in the new version.

• IF it works fine, just keep going.
• IF there's a problem, stop ... go back to the previous version, and keep working.
• Occasionally test a new version update build to see if it is now working for you.

You don't pull out your hair or miss deadlines this way.

I only update when I have finished a project.

Disable Auto Update

To disable automatic updates for Adobe Premiere, you can follow the steps below:

1. Open the Creative Cloud desktop app.
2. Click on the Account icon in the upper right corner of the window.
3. Select Preferences.
4. Click on Apps on the left-hand side of the window.
5. Toggle the Auto-update button next to Adobe Premiere to the Off position.
