Issues with keyframe copy/paste and a self-clearing clipboard

Hi all,

Having some issues in Premiere with copy/pasting keyframes, and data either not being copied to clipboard, or disappearing from the clipboard after one or two pastes.

I'm going through my project replacing all of my 'cross disolve's with opacity 0%-100% and 100%-0% opacity automation, as I find that sometimes the transition effects clash with each other and I get glitches in the final render, especially when I have nests within nests full of these transitions. It's a laborious task, but it's made much worse by the fact that my clipboard keeps clearing itself, and I can't just race through 'Apple C & V'ing through the project!

Another case of a 10 minute job taking an hour... Has anyone else had this issue, could there be some setting or software clash I'm missing?

Premiere version 14.0.1

MacOS Catalina 10.15.4

Only other programs running are the usual, photoshop, chrome, mail etc.

Thanks.

Adam

Edit: I've found that I can usually copy to clips of the same type, but maybe only if they have the same effects. So I can copy from nest to nest, but not if one is masked and one isn't, and not from .mp4 to nest, or .mov to .mp4, even when there are no masks involved. It's frustrating because these are simple opacity keyframes that you'd think would be universal.

I'd have thought so too, but that's not happening for me at the moment! I'm sure I've used all of these methods frequently in the past.

Update: I've since upgraded Premiere to 14.1.0 and still having the same issues.

Just tested in 14.1. on windows and works as advertised.

Two suggestions:

1. Does it work if you select the actual Opacity tab of the clip you're trying to add it to?

2. Can you create a Preset and just drag and drop the preset onto the clips? It may seem weird to make a preset for a simple opacity change, but a potentially added benefit to that is that you can anchor the effect to the clip start or end point of the clips that you're dropping the preset onto. (Create one for 0>100, and one for 100>0)

Hiya.

1. Afraid not! It looks like whatever data I'm copying to the clipboard for '.mov' keyframes isn't compatible with '..mp4' or nest files, and vice versa, so the paste option is greyed out. It is frustrating, as it's quite possible to copy opacity keyframes from .mov to .mp4 to .jpg etc in After Effects for example.

2. I imagine a preset would be a good solution, I'll have a look into it, although the issue I was having in the first place was with an in-built preset video transiton (cross dissolve), and I was finding that if I had perhaps too many operating at once (my current projects often have a dozen or more clips fading in at once or in sequence), I get glitches and blacked out frames.

All copy and pasting should be done in the effect controls.

You can copy/paste opacity to any asset but only one at a time.

Be sure opacity is selected in the receiving clip and the cursor is over the clip.

You can also do eveything in the timeline by copying and Pasting Attributes.
