Markers not appearing at playhead

On a particular one of the clips in my timeline, when I add a marker, it does not add at the playhead. It only occurs with one specific (merged) clip. It doesn't occur with other clips, even another merged clip. Here is a screen capture. First I show how markers are working correctly in general. Then I show how they stop working correctly when I merge the clip and try again.

 

Pretty frustrating. Help appreciated—TIA.

I seem to remember seeing reports of issues with merged clips.    what if you try nesting rather than merging?  just a shot in the dark...

    Thanks for the suggestion. Nesting isn't a good solution for this project because I need the ability to edit the audio tracks separately on the main timeline.

     

    A workaround that worked for me was to use "Synchronize" instead of "Merge."
